CONGRATULATIONS TO LAGO MAR’s 2013 GRADUATES!
Nathan Gonzalez will graduate from Ocean Lakes High School and will be attending University of Virginia this upcoming fall. He plans to double major in history and business.
Elizabeth Dyer graduated this spring from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science, Integrated Science and Technology. Liz is currently exploring multiple career opportunities within her field.
Tommy Koehler will graduate from Kellam High School with honors and will attend James Madison University in the fall as a Business Marketing major. Tommy has been active in Kellam’s Outdoors Club, Jazz & Concert Bands. His artistic talent has been sought by many student clubs at Kellam; he has been commissioned as part of the design team to create a senior sculpture which will move to the new Kellam High School for future classes to enjoy.
- Interesting Fact: Tommy is an active volunteer for the Lago Mar Civic League; he started his own company through which he markets his art and t-shirts and is a drummer/keyboardist performing for charitable events and in local venues .
SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS:
Gaela Normile, 4.2 GPA, will be attending the College of William and Mary in the fall. She will be graduating in the top 1% of her Kellam High School class. For the past two years Gaela has coordinated and directed Charlie Normile’s Turkey Trot, in memory of her brother. This event has collectively raised around $20,000 for the Navy SEAL Foundation. Gaiela played varsity field hockey and has been a four year starter Kellam’s varsity soccer, serving as a team captain her senior year. Gaela extends her thanks to Lago Mar Gentlemen’s Golf Association for honoring her with a scholarship.
Erin Cawthorn , 4.6 GPA, will be graduating from Ocean Lakes High School Mathematics and Science Academy. Throughout high school Erin participated in Varsity Tennis, Class of 2013 Executive Board, Student Cooperative Association, Quidditch Club, French Honor Society, Secretary of the Math and Science Club and served as the National Honor Society Vice President. She danced for 13 years with Golden Slippers and Oceanfront Dance Company as an Advance Company performer. This fall, Erin will attend the University of Virginia, where she will study Biochemistry and Psychology as a Pre-Medical student. She would like to thank the Lago Mar Gentlemen’s Golf Association for awarding her this scholarship.
- Interesting Fact: Captains a team annually for the Susan Komen Race for the Cure to honor her mom, a cancer survivor.
Sarah Freebus 4.3 GPA Ocean Lakes High School. She will be attending University of Virginia, Majoring in Economics and Finance. Her career goal is to investigate fraud for the US Government.
- Interesting Fact: Bible school music teacher for 5 years.
Ryan Joiner 4.3 GPA, Kellam High School. Deciding between VCU, VT AND CNU, Majoring in Chemistry. May like to work in Physical Therapy or Rehabilitation.
- Interesting Fact: Executive Board Member for 1st ever VB Schools Relay for Life team
Caitriona Cobb 4.1 GPA, Kellam High School. Deciding between Mary Washington, William and Mary, and University of Virginia, Majoring in Biology and English. Catriona’s career goal is to be a Medical Writer / Editor
- Interesting Fact: Has received the Navy Youth Medal, Scottish Rites Medal and is 1 of 10 children.
Joel Neifert 4.1 GPA, Kellam High School . Joes will attend Virginia Tech Majoring in Engineering. His career goal is in Mechanical or Bio Engineering.
- Interesting fact: Has had 3 sculptures on display at the School Admin Building.
